Wolfe County Projected vs Actual Release
A projected date is a calculation based on the sentence and information then available. It may assume credits, conduct, or completion of required steps. An actual release date records the event after the responsible agency processes the person out. Those two facts should never be merged.
A pretrial detainee usually has no sentence-based projected date. Bond, recognizance, dismissal, a new court order, or continued detention can change the outcome. A person serving a short county sentence may have a jail calculation tied to the Wolfe judgment and jail credit. A state prisoner’s calculation belongs to KYDOC Offender Information Services.
Departure from Three Forks Regional Jail also may be a transfer. A person can leave the regional roster and enter state, federal, or another county’s custody on the same day. The movement record must distinguish release to the community from transfer to a receiving agency.
Find a Wolfe County Projected Release Date
Choose the source by custody type before searching. KOOL is the strongest public route for a Wolfe prosecution that produced a state sentence, but it is not a complete archive of short Three Forks bookings.
- Check the Three Forks current roster only to determine whether the facility presently displays the person. Absence is not proof of release.
- For a state offender, open KOOL and search by name with minimal filters. Use DOC or PID number when known.
- Use Conviction County = Wolfe when the conviction is known to be local. Do not confuse it with County of Supervision.
- For a date-range search, use the exact form label “Projected Release Date From / To.” Open the full record and compare all date labels.
- For a county sentence, obtain the Wolfe judgment and ask Three Forks for the jail’s time-credit or release calculation.
- For a pretrial case, read the Wolfe court docket and bond orders. Ask the jail for the movement entry after the event.
- Confirm an actual state release with KYDOC Daily Releases, changed KOOL status and location, VINE, or the offender-file release record.
KOOL advises reducing search criteria when no match appears. Its form includes aliases, names, offender type, DOC and PID numbers, supervision status, location, county of supervision, demographic fields, offense name, KRS code, indictment number, crime and conviction dates, conviction county, institution or supervision begin date, escape or abscond range, and projected-release range.
Kentucky Credits in Wolfe County Release Dates
Kentucky sentence calculation starts with the judgment and term, then accounts for custody credit under KRS 532.120 and credits authorized by KRS 197.045. Concurrent or consecutive terms, multiple cases, detainers, revocation time, and the statutory classification of the offense can alter the result. The public should not try to recreate an official calculation from a charge list.
KRS 197.045 describes several credits and limitations. It includes specified educational or program achievements, discretionary good-behavior credit not exceeding ten days per month, exceptional meritorious service or duty credit up to seven days per month, and emergency-service credit up to seven days per month. Eligibility restrictions apply, and credits can be forfeited or future earning denied after qualifying violations.
The “85 percent rule” is not a rule for every Kentucky inmate. KRS 439.3401 applies the threshold to the statutory violent-offender category and sharply limits sentence credit for covered people. Offense, date, sentence type, and statutory exceptions matter. A slogan cannot replace the current statute or KYDOC calculation.
For a short Three Forks county sentence, use the Wolfe judgment, the jail’s credit calculation, and the release record. The official sweep found no published local Three Forks good-time or weekend-release policy. State-prison credit tables should not be applied mechanically to a county booking.
Why Wolfe County Release Dates Change
A date can move because the facts used in the calculation change or because the earlier display was not a final agency action. The reason is often visible only after comparing the sentence, custody record, parole entries, and holds.
| Factor | Possible effect |
|---|---|
| Credit earned or restored | May move a qualifying minimum or good-time date earlier. |
| Credit denied or forfeited | May move the calculated date later. |
| Corrected sentence data | Changes the base term or credit used by KYDOC. |
| New consecutive case | Adds time that was not part of the earlier display. |
| Detainer or hold | Can prevent community release even when one sentence reaches a date. |
| Parole denial or deferment | Changes review timing without changing maximum expiration in the same way. |
| Revocation | Can return a supervised person to custody and require a new calculation. |
| Release processing | May reveal another warrant, case, or receiving agency. |
KOOL updates do not guarantee real-time finality. KYDOC warns that offender data newer than 120 days might not have been finalized. A newly posted sentence, credit, hearing result, or transfer may therefore need agency confirmation.
Confirm a Wolfe County Actual Release
For a local case, the best confirmation is the Three Forks release or movement entry paired with the Wolfe court order that explains the authority. Ask for the date and time, release reason, destination or receiving agency, and bond information when those fields exist. The court record can explain why release was permitted but may not document the minute of physical exit.
For state custody, KYDOC Daily Releases is an affirmative date-indexed archive. Its reports can include DOC number, name, release type, released-from facility, and highest felony class. A report can show a discharge or mandatory reentry supervision event. It covers state-sentence releases and cannot be relabeled as a Wolfe or Three Forks release feed.
Registering through the Wolfe County VINELink release check can provide notice of a pending custody event. After the alert, confirm with the source agency. For federal BOP custody, use the BOP locator and offender record. For current ICE detention, use the ICE locator. A non-result in either system is not a release certificate.
KOOL Labels for Wolfe County Release Dates
KOOL’s search form and detail record do not use one universal release-date label. The advanced form calls its range filter “Projected Release Date From / To.” A full state-inmate record may instead display Expected Time To Serve, Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date (Good Time Release Date), Parole Eligibility Date, Maximum Expiration of Sentence Date, or a parole-table Proposed Release Date.
| KOOL label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Expected Time To Serve | A displayed expectation based on the state calculation. |
| Minimum Expiration / Good Time Release | A minimum calculation that assumes applicable credit and conduct. |
| Parole Eligibility | The point at which consideration may occur, not a grant. |
| Proposed Release Date | A parole-related proposal still subject to Board and DOC steps. |
| Maximum Expiration | The outside sentence endpoint reflected in the record’s calculation. |
Read the label exactly as shown. A minimum date and a parole eligibility date arise from different rules, while a proposed date may depend on steps not yet completed.
Parole Eligibility and Wolfe Release Timing
Parole eligibility is separate from good-time calculation. The operative 501 KAR 1:030 contains tables keyed to sentence, offense, and offense date. One general table for offenses after December 3, 1980 provides four months for a term from one to less than two years, 20 percent for two through 39 years, and eight years for more than 39 years or life. Special categories can override that table.
Violent-offender and other provisions can produce different thresholds, including 85 percent or 20 years in specified cases. Regulations can be amended, so the current effective text and the individual KYDOC record control. A hearing recommendation, deferment, or serve-out also does not equal an actual gate release.
Note: Eligibility opens a decision point; it does not promise release on that date or remove another valid hold.
County Jail vs State Release Dates
Three Forks is the regional jail serving Wolfe, Lee, and Owsley counties. A Wolfe connection must be established through the originating case because the roster is not Wolfe-only. For a county sentence or pretrial detention, the local release path begins with the Wolfe court record and Three Forks movement data.
A state commitment changes the source. Once a person is transferred to Kentucky DOC, KOOL, Offender Information Services, Daily Releases, and the receiving institution record control state dates. Leaving Three Forks in that situation means a transfer out of regional custody, not release from all custody.
This boundary also explains why a Wolfe County map search can miss the jail. Three Forks is physically in Beattyville, outside Wolfe County, while its authority formally serves Wolfe. Geography does not decide which agency created a sentence calculation.
When asking Three Forks for a county calculation, identify the person, booking number if known, approximate custody dates, and Wolfe case. Request the existing time-credit or release calculation and the later movement entry as separate records. The calculation answers what the facility expected from the then-current judgment. The movement entry answers what actually happened, including whether another agency received the person.
When asking KYDOC, use the DOC or PID number and identify the displayed date label. A request for the record supporting “Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date” is more precise than a general question about when someone gets out. Offender Information Services handles state sentence calculations, while the Parole Board handles its own eligibility and decision records.
Request a Wolfe County Date Record
When the online date does not answer the question, request the existing source record. For Three Forks, identify the Wolfe case, person, date range, and booking number if known. Ask separately for the time-credit or release calculation and the movement entry. This keeps an expected date distinct from the event that later occurred.
For KYDOC, supply the DOC or PID number and quote the exact KOOL label being questioned. Ask for the offender-file record that supports that calculation or release event. For a parole proposal, use the Parole Board decision or open-record route in addition to the DOC record. Agencies can disclose only what law and the record permit, but a narrow request is easier to process than “tell me when this person gets out.”
Save the response date and any explanation that a calculation is pending finalization. If the person is released later, compare the prior projection with Daily Releases, changed KOOL status, VINE, or the final movement record. That comparison prevents an old estimate from being repeated as a fact.
